As of this month, Bella's 2nd cornea transplant has reached one year. She went to Omaha to see her doctors a couple of weeks ago and everything looks great. 18 months with the transplant is the real hurdle but we are miles ahead of where we were with the first transplant.
I still find it amazing what the combination of great doctors and a child with the most amazing resilience I have ever seen can achieve. Not to mention a strong mother that makes all of it come together.

Bella IS a brave little girl, but she learned her resilience and patience from her two very dedicated parents. Cudos- I am not sure I would have had the perseverence the 3 of you have had these past 7 years. In spite of being discouraged after the early meeting with doctors in Iowa City, you held your ground. Thank God you went the patching route.

See, it's people like her that make me sign that donor card each time I have the privilege to do so. What an amazing family Josh! I love reading your stories!
